What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a therapy that utilizes a patient’s own blood to stimulate a healing response within a damaged tissue or joint. This form of therapy takes cutting edge technology and combines it with the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

PRP is made by taking a small sample of a patient’s own blood and spinning the sample in a centrifuge for fifteen minutes. This process concentrates platelets and white blood cells in what is called a “buffy coat” that is extracted and delivered to a targeted area. Growth factors in the platelets recruit and produce cells necessary for healing.

A sterile kit is assigned to a specific patient.  The patient will have blood drawn.  Once the blood is drawn, your specific tube will be placed into a centrifuge machine and spun at 310 rpm for 9 minutes.  This will cause the whole blood components to divide into individual components.   The component that is used for all of these procedures procedures is the plasma rich platelets.   Once divided, the plasma is removed from the tube into a new syringe.  This plasma is comprised of YOUR OWN plasma which promotes your body’s natural healing factors during a  facelift or facial.  This plasma is injected back into your body in a targeted area depending upon the procedure.
